We use professional, high-quality specialist 2k Polyurethane paints (unlike water-based paints) that are highly durable and resistant to scratches, abrasions and impacts. These hard-wearing paints are also chemical resistant (making it easy to clean and maintain), moisture resistant (helping to prevent swelling and warping in wooden cabinetry), and UV resistant (which helps in maintaining the colour and finish). To provide that extra peace of mind and to help protect your investment, we will offer you a 5-year warranty against paint discolouration and peeling.
Our investment in to a state of the art spray booth and workshop supports our commitment to professionalism and quality. Our team removes the majority of your removable items from site including all cabinet doors, drawer fronts, kickplates and free standing furniture, and transports the items to our workshop where the hardware is removed and the items are thoroughly degreased, chemically cleaned, sanded, primed and sprayed. The workshop and spray booth include high-tech sanding facilities and spray painting equipment, as well as robust extraction and filtration systems which ensure the safe extraction of fumes and dust particles that can interfere with the painted surface causing issues with the bonding process resulting in the painted surface cracking, bubbling or peeling in the future.
Choose from thousands of colours or have our expert interior design team help you choose, Our extensive selection ensures that you can find the perfect shade to complement your home’s décor and reflect your style. We start with a friendly consultation to understand your vision and preferences. We will help you select the perfect colour and finish for updating your kitchen, fitted wardrobes, cupboards, stand-alone furniture or wooden doors, whilst at the same time thoroughly inspecting the items to ensure we carefully consider the best approach to delivering your project on time and on budget.
Our team carefully removes all doors, drawers, and any other components to be sprayed in our spray booth with the remaining cabinet carcasses to be sprayed on-site. Everything is thoroughly labelled to ensure that it is retuned to the exact same location at the end of the process, and all mechanical hardware is removed and placed in zip-lock bags for safekeeping.
All doors, drawers, and any other components to be sprayed in our spray booth, together with the remaining cabinet carcasses to be sprayed on-site, are thoroughly washed, degreased, sanitised and cleaned prior to spraying. This is vitally important as any contaminated surface that is not properly treated will inevitably result in the paint peeling and flaking after spraying.
All silicone, glue and other adhesive materials must be completely removed from the surface to be sprayed as paint will not bond with these materials which will result in a poor quality finish. Any holes, scuffs, dents and scratches that cannot be sanded out, are filled with wood filler to ensure a pristine flawless finish once sanded and sprayed.
Sanding is another vital step within the process as it not only ensures an ultra smooth finish to the spray painted surface but also helps to remove contamination and to create a stronger bond between the substrate and the primer, as well as the primer and the topcoat. We make use of market leading dustless Mirka orbital sanders both onsite and at our workshop.
The step that takes the most time, dedication and effort within the process is the intensive masking up of all surfaces that we protect from the spray painting stage. This may include glass panels, floors, worktops, walls, ceilings, kitchen appliances and lights. We only make use of the best masking materials to ensure maximum protection throughout the process.
Both on-site and at our specialised spraying unit, we use a combination of advanced HVLP and airless spray equipment, together with high-quality paints and materials to achieve a flawless finish that is also tough enough to withstand the test of time. Although the spraying process may differ with various cabinet finishes, we typically apply 1-2 coats of primer and 2-3 topcoats of paint to ensure the highest quality finish.
All cabinets, drawer fronts, kickboards, stand-alone furniture etc. removed and sprayed in our workshop, are carefully wrapped in foam for maximum protection prior to delivering the goods back to your home for reinstallation.
One of the last steps before the final reinstallation of all the cabinets, drawer fronts, kickboards and mechanical hardware, is to carefully remove and dispose of all the masking materials used to protect the various surfaces.
Once the spraying is complete and everything has dried to perfection, we reinstall your cabinetry and/or furniture items with meticulous precision, demask the remaining unpainted surfaces, and clean up the surrounding areas to ensure that your newly re-painted items are ready to serve you and your family for many years to come.
You’ll be amazed at how a fresh coat of paint, sprayed to perfection, can breathe new life into your space.

Hand painting your kitchen cabinets, fitted wardrobes, cupboards, stand-alone furniture or wooden doors is a cheaper alternative to spraying them, however you cannot achieve the same quality of finish as spraying, where hand painting will inevitably leave brush marks and other imperfections. Hand painting also comes with many risks such as the fact that the paint will more than likely be water-based, as further outlined in the question below.
1k water-based paint is not ideal for hard wearing areas like kitchens, bedrooms, storage units, furniture and doors as it will be less resistant to scratches, abrasions, moisture damage, UV and chemical cleaning substances. Furthermore the drying times when using water-based paints are significantly longer resulting in lengthy delivery times to complete the project. Unless our clients specifically request 1k water-based paints, we will almost always make use of 2k polyurethane paints to guarantee the high quality finish with long lasting durability.
Spraying everything on-site can be a slightly faster and a more cost effective approach to having your kitchen cabinets, fitted wardrobes, cupboards, stand-alone furniture or wooden doors resprayed. The problem with this approach is that these smaller businesses do not have the high-tech facilities to respray your items using the industry recommended processes that deliver high quality finishes, and therefore have developed processes that circumvent the use of a spray booth. The common pitfalls when doing this is the degradation of quality and durability, especially when your items being sprayed are not removed from the carcasses and the hardware is therefore not being removed either, which makes it extremely difficult to clean, degrease, remove silicone, fill holes and sand. Unfortunately if these steps are not followed with discipline and precision then expecting a durable high-quality quality finish that will last can most certainly not be guaranteed. We prefer to do as much off site for our clients to cause minimal disruption in your kitchen as you can still utilise your space until we come back to site to spray the carcass.
It is possible but you would be taking a huge risk as painting directly over existing paints without taking the required preparation measures will more often than not lead to problems with the paint later on down the line. This is especially true when painting over hand-painted items, oil-based paints, contaminated paints, high-gloss vinyl wrapping or wood veneers. Each of these surfaces requires a different preparation technique and in some cases requires different primers to ensure that the various layers of paint will bond to each other successfully and not cause chemical reactions leaving marks.
On average, a fitted wardrobe, a set of cupboards or a set of internal doors will take 1-2 days, a small kitchen or a medium furniture set will take 2-3 days, a medium kitchen or larger furniture set can take 3-4 days and a large kitchen can take 4-6 days on average.
The cost of respraying your kitchen using premium paints and following a process designed to ensure the highest quality standards, can vary by many factors such as the size of the cabinet units, the number of additional features (e.g. shelves and extractor hoods) as well as additional services e.g. moving and replacing handles or removing high-gloss vinyl wrapping or concealing wood grain etc. We recommend budgeting £125 per cabinet door as an average guideline estimate.
Chris and Suzanne tasked the team at Casalinga Design to help restore their 12 year old kitchen. The high-gloss vinyl wrapping had started to peal on a number of cabinet doors, however the MDF substrate was still in excellent condition so we were excited to take on the challenge. The process required the Casalinga Design spray painting team to remove the high-gloss vinyl rapping with a heat gun, degrease and clean all the underlying glue off the MDF doors & drawers and thoroughly sand them in preparation for spraying. With MDF, it was essential to spray 2 gel coats of high build primer (essentially 4 coats of primer), sanding in between each coat to ensure a perfectly smooth finish, followed by 2 coats of top-coat. This fairly large project was completed in 5 days and saved Chris and Suzanne at least £20,000 if they has chosen to replace the kitchen. Needless to say, Chris and Suzanne were delighted with the exceptional quality of the satin finish giving them another 10 years to enjoy their beautiful kitchen.
